Have you ever watched the 1984 movie 'Ghostbusters'? Among 'being about of lot of other things', it is about overcoming the "scary" supernatural not with 'more scary supernatural' or with some 'unique and rare supernatural items', but with 'the power of science' - a power everyone can yield. Including you!
Invest in some flashlights and your life will be better:
- a small one for your key ring
- and a regular sized one that's charged at any electric outlet, so you don't need to worry about buying batteries.
And if you feel that that is not enough, you could built a battery-powered bracelet out of some transparent rubber tubing and some LEDs.
While I think that, 'being able to ignore a creature that has no other influence over your life' would be more beneficial to you, I'm sure others have told you that pretty often already. Ultimately, even in the case that "Edward" is just imaginary, it is _your_own_mind_ and you should be allowed to use it however you like, as long as you don't hurt anyone.
